QUEENSBURY, NY –Aviation Mall is excited to be hosting the 20th Annual Turning Point District Level Pinewood Derby on Saturday, June 18th in the JCPenney wing of the mall. Cheer on the competitors participating in The Pinewood Derby, beginning at 1 p.m. Weigh-in times are from 10:30 am to 12:30 p.m. Voting for “Best of Show” cars will begin at 12:30 p.m. At 6 p.m., there will be an Adult/Boy Scout race.
The Pinewood Derby is a racing event for unpowered, unmanned miniature cars. Scouts build their own cars from blocks of wood, plastic wheels and metal axles. According to the Boy Scouts of America, “The Pinewood Derby is a fun and social event that is much more than racing wooden cars down a speed track. It is an event that fosters sportsmanship and a healthy competition.”
